Manchester United’s performance made a statement in their opening match of the Premier League season against Leeds United, as they started their campaign with a 5-1 win.
It is safe to say that every player on the pitch put in a solid display on that day, but one of the players who caught the eye was Paul Pogba. The Frenchman provided an incredible 4 assists in what was one of his best performances ever for the Red Devils.
In fact, he provided more assists on the day than he had in the entire 2020/21 campaign. Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, appeared to be very impressed with Pogba’s performance.
While speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast and as reported by HITC, Wright said regarding Pogba after the Leeds United game:
"“He was just roaming. Go and play. He’s in his sixth season. Let’s be totally honest, I don’t think I’ve seen him that good.”"

Is Pogba playing his best football in a Manchester United shirt right now?
It must be pointed out that Wright made the comments following the 5-1 win against Leeds United. Since then, the Red Devils have had a 1-1 draw away at Southampton. But even in that game, Pogba ended up providing the assist for Mason Greenwood’s equaliser.
Thus, one has to wonder whether the French midfield maestro is playing his best football for the club right now.
For quite some time now, there have been rumours about Pogba being on his way out of Old Trafford. But it is safe to say that his performances on the pitch have not dropped. He had a brilliant 2020/21 campaign and was one of the biggest reasons behind Manchester United finishing second in the Premier League. Right now, he is most probably playing even better.
With Pogba playing this kind of football, Bruno Fernandes looking as effective as ever and the likes of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane still to settle into their new surroundings and establish themselves in the first-team, exciting times might be ahead for the club.
