Jesse Lingard’s Manchester United future is certainly an interesting thing to consider at this point of time. The England international is in the final year of his current deal with the club.

Not too long ago, it was looking like Lingard was destined to depart the Red Devils sooner or later after struggling to break into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-team picture in the first half of last season. As a result, he was sent out on loan to West Ham United in the second half of the 2020/21 campaign.

That is where Lingard turned things around. During his time with the Hammers, he was exceptional and one of the best players in the entire Premier League. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 9 goals and provided 5 assists in 16 appearances for West Ham United.

Those are incredible stats for any player. Now back at Old Trafford, Lingard will be hoping to make an impact for the Red Devils this time around. But with the depth of Manchester United’s squad right now, first-team opportunities might still be limited for the English international.

As reported by The Times, Lingard will look to leave the club before the transfer window closes unless he believes that he is going to play regularly in Solskjaer’s side this season.

Thus, it will be interesting to see how things unfold over the next couple of weeks or so. There is believed to be some interest in Lingard’s signature this summer after his brilliant performances for West Ham United last season but he has remained at Old Trafford till now.

His current deal runs out in the summer of 2022. And at 28 years of age, this is a vital point in Lingard’s career and it is understandable that he would be keen on playing regular first-team football. It remains to be seen what the future holds regarding his future.
