Paul Pogba has started the season in sensational form for Manchester United. He provided four assists in their Premier League season opener against Leeds United, a game they won 5-1, in what was one of his best ever performances at the Theatre of Dreams.

On top of his game, the Frenchman is one of the best midfielders on the planet and is a massive part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s current team.

As a result, it goes without saying that his contract situation will be a worry for the club. Pogba is in the final 12 months of his current deal and has been linked with an Old Trafford exit for a while. The feeling right now is that he will remain at the club this season but his long-term future remains up in the air.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Manchester United want Pogba to sign a new long-term contract as soon as possible but the midfielder is in no rush to commit. It is understood that Pogba is taking his time as he decides his next move and it is almost certain that he will not sign any new deal before the August 31 transfer deadline.

Pogba is not in a rush to extend his Manchester United contract

It goes without saying that if Pogba did leave the club, it would be a massive blow. But his current contract situation is a massive worry for them at the same time.

If the French World Cup winner does not extend his contract then he will become a free agent next summer. And that is a scenario that the Red Devils must definitely be eager to avoid.

The club have made some terrific additions over the course of this summer transfer window though and would be hoping that they can end their four season-long trophyless streak this time around. And if that does happen, one would be hoping that that would be something that convinces Pogba to extend his stay at Old Trafford.
