Manchester United’s Raphael Varane plan for Southampton game
The arrival of Raphael Varane should be considered as a huge boost for Manchester United. The club could not get the deal over the line in time for him to feature in the Red Devils’ Premier League season opener against Leeds United.
But they made the best of the situation by unveiling the French World Cup winner in front of the Old Trafford crowd to a brilliant ovation from the fans.
His absence did not have a great effect on the day as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side managed to win 5-1 against Leeds United. But going forward, he is expected to be an important member of this team.
And there is some great news surrounding the French defender. As reported by Manchester Evening News, Varane is set to be included in the travelling squad for the upcoming game against Southampton. Now, it remains to be seen whether he will make his debut for the club there.

Varane could be a terrific addition to this Manchester United side
Solskjaer’s side are coming off of a very promising season. They finished second in the Premier League and reached the final of the Europa League.
But at the end of the day, they could not win a trophy. Manchester United have been without silverware for four seasons now and it is expected that they would be looking to bring an end to that streak as soon as possible.
In that goal, Varane could be very vital to this team. The Frenchman could form a brilliant partnership in the heart of defence with Harry Maguire.
He has a great combination of world-class quality and top level experience. He won everything that was there to win during his time at Real Madrid and has won the World Cup with the France national team as well. And the presence of somebody like that could be very important, not just on the pitch but off it too.
