Two Manchester United players who have been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer are Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial.
While the Pogba rumours have floated around for years now, Martial is rumoured to have caught the attention of Inter Milan, who are in need of a striker with Romelu Lukaku recently joining Chelsea.
When speaking ahead of the club’s opening Premier League game against Leeds United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had addressed the situation surrounding the Old Trafford futures of both Pogba and Martial. And judging from his comments, it does look like the manager has the duo in his plans for the season.
As reported by the Mirror, while talking about Pogba, Solskjaer said:
"“He is a Manchester United player, one year left on contract.“Every conversation and discussion is a positive one. He knows what we want.”"
Solskjaer was also asked about the rumours surrounding Martial and he said:
"“I wouldn’t be surprised if other teams targeted Anthony because he is a very good player.“Back strong and hungry to prove his quality. You can see that grit between his teeth again, he is up for the challenge. We are happy that we have him.”"

Solskjaer talks about Manchester United duo’s future
It looks like the club want to keep both Pogba and Martial at the club and it is not hard to see why. The Red Devils made an outstanding start to their Premier League season with a 5-1 win over Leeds United on the opening matchday of the campaign. Pogba starred alongside hattrick hero Bruno Fernandes by providing four assists on the day.
Interestingly, Martial came onto the pitch as a substitute in place of Pogba in the 75th minute of the game.
The French striker was out injured towards the end of the previous season and the fans will be hoping to see him get back to his scoring ways as soon as possible after a disappointing 2020/21 campaign.
On the other hand, Pogba is one of the most important members of Solskjaer’s squad and thus, the club would definitely be hoping that he remains at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future. And if he can continue to deliver this season, the Red Devils should be considered one of the favourites for the Premier League title this time around.
