The mood around Manchester United is very positive at the moment. With a number of players missing for their Premier League opener against Leeds United, there must have been some worry heading into the game.

The Red Devils ended up winning the game 5-1 though, with Bruno Fernandes scoring a hattrick while Mason Greenwood and Fred scored once each. Paul Pogba’s performance deserves mention as well as the French midfield maestro provided 4 assists on the day in what was one of his best performances for the club till now.

Then there was the unveiling of Raphael Varane as a Manchester United player in front of the fans at Old Trafford and Jadon Sancho’s debut for the club as a substitute. Overall, it was a brilliant day for the Red Devils and things are looking up.

Now, there appears to be some more positive news moving forward. As tweeted out by Jonathan Shrager, Edinson Cavani has been informed by the club that he can return to training at a certain time on Tuesday:

Cavani’s return to training should be a massive boost for Manchester United

Cavani was one of the Red Devils’ best players last season. He endured a difficult start to life at Old Trafford, struggling for both form and fitness but appeared to come into his own in the second half of the season and towards the end of the campaign, he was looking like one of the best strikers in the entire Premier League.

Thus, it goes without saying that him returning to training will be a massive boost for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. The Uruguayan striker was given an extended holiday this time around.

In his absence, it was Greenwood who led the line for the club against Leeds United and he did a fantastic job on the day. But it might be a bit too early for the 19-year-old to play that role on a consistent basis this season. As a result, Cavani returning to the first-team picture as soon as possible will be important.
