The squad depth at Manchester United right now is incredible. It is safe to say that they were not at full strength when they faced Leeds United in their Premier League season opener at Old Trafford. Yet, the Red Devils managed to come out of the game with a convincing 5-1 victory.
And it was not just the result that was encouraging but the performance as well. Bruno Fernandes scored a hattrick while Paul Pogba provided four assists. Fred and Mason Greenwood scored once each, while Victor Lindelof got the remaining assist. The only thing that was missing from the performance was a clean sheet.
It is very exciting to think how good this side can be this season considering the likes of Edinson Cavani, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and many others are set to enter the picture soon as well.
Amidst all this, one man who might not get a lot of playing time is Jesse Lingard. And Gary Neville believes that the 28-year-old ‘needs to leave’. While speaking on The Overlap and as reported by Sport Bible, the Manchester United legend said:
"“Jesse needs to leave for Jesse. He got pride last year playing at West Ham.“He’s the man there and he’ll come back here and play 15 games, and be a good squad player, but he doesn’t want that again surely after what he experienced last season.“Jesse needs to leave for Jesse Lingard.”"

Does Lingard need to leave Manchester United?
Lingard spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan at West Ham United and during that period of time, he was one of the best players in the entire Premier League.
Now back at Old Trafford, it is unlikely that he will get too many first-team minutes though, considering he will be competing with the likes of Fernandes and Pogba for a spot in the team.
It must also be pointed that he is in the final 12 months of his contract at Old Trafford now and will become a free agent next summer. Thus, a move away before the transfer window closes, might be the best move for both the player and the club at this point of time.
