One exceptional player that seems to fly under the radar at times is Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez. Standing at just 5’9″, the tricky forward has recently enjoyed arguably his best year on the pitch, helping end Inter Milan’s 11-year wait for a Serie A title, and also leading the line for Argentina as they lifted the Copa America this summer, their first major trophy in 28 years.

A big problem with the Red Devils recently has been their inability to score against the top clubs. On the other hand, Martinez is someone who appears to step up to the occasion and has scored against some of the biggest clubs in Italy and in Europe.

Thus, signing someone like Martinez as a potential replacement for Cavani might be a solid move on the part of Manchester United, as they will be replacing one talismanic South American forward with another.

The Argentine hit double figures in both goals and assists for Inter Milan last season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 19 goals and provided 11 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions for the Italian giants.

He is a very different striker to Cavani but would still nicely slot into Solskjaer’s team. He is a very flexible player who has shown that he can play the role of a team’s focal point with the Argentina national team while also thriving in a partnership along with Romelu Lukaku at Inter Milan.

It goes without saying that a player with such versatility would provide Solskjaer with more options and make the Red Devils an even more fluid team.

It must be pointed out that the Argentine has been linked with both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks.
