Under the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United have gone from strength to strength, and while they seem to be building a team for years to come, one of the major pieces missing is a young striker who serves as the focal point of the attack.

Though Edinson Cavani has been great during his time at Old Trafford, the 34-year-old is not a long-term solution up top and the Red Devils will have to search for a replacement for the Uruguayan striker in the near future.

Although the club have a number of capable forwards – with Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Mason Greenwood all operating through the middle in the past – they are lacking a real out-and-out striker.

Thus, when they try to sign a striker the next time, they must target someone who can replace Cavani as the man to lead the line.

3 potential replacements for Edinson Cavani at Manchester United

Here are three strikers who can replace Cavani at Old Trafford and suit the club’s vision for the future:

Erling Haaland

The most obvious choice and the one that would probably be the most popular as well is Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland. Despite rumours of a move away from Germany this summer, Haaland seems set to continue leading the line for his side for another season at least. But a move away next summer seems probable considering that a release clause is believed to become active in his contract then.

With an incredible eye for goal, Haaland’s output is comparable to the most elite footballers in the world, and according to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 60 goals and provided 15 assists in just 60 appearances across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund.

Not only is Haaland probably the ideal striker for this Manchester United side, but he is also believed to have a strong relationship with both Solskjaer, who he has worked with in the past at Molde, and Jadon Sancho, a man he has enjoyed playing alongside at Borussia Dortmund.

A brilliant striker who can find the back of the net from all angles and also intelligently finds his teammates in and around the box, Haaland has proven he can be a scorer as well as a provider. Combine that with his height and physicality and he can be the perfect striker in the Premier League.
