Things are certainly looking up for Manchester United at the moment. The club have shown tremendous progress over the past couple of years or so. They finished second in the Premier League last season and reached the final of the Europa League. And for the majority of the campaign, they looked like a very difficult team to beat.
This summer, they have strengthened the squad even further. Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton are already at Old Trafford while Raphael Varane’s arrival is expected soon. Thus, the Red Devils should be considered as Premier League contenders going into the new season.
One worry that the club could have at the moment though is the contract situation of Paul Pogba. The French World Cup winner is in the final 12 months of his current deal and his long-term future at Old Trafford is up in the air at the moment.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Pogba has rejected the offer of a new contract at Old Trafford and could walk away for nothing next summer. But it looks like he will be a key figure in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans this season and the player is said to be comfortable with another season at the club.

Could Pogba leave Manchester United on a free transfer next summer?
Pogba’s current deal with the club will run out next summer meaning he will become a free agent then unless he ends up agreeing a contract extension with the Red Devils in the near future.
Many had expected the French midfielder to leave the club this summer itself with Paris Saint-Germain believed to be interested in signing him. But with the French giants signing Lionel Messi, that move seems very unlikely now. It could still happen next summer though if Pogba ends up becoming a free agent.
Pogba signing a contract extension with Manchester United does not seem impossible either. At 28 years of age, he seems to be weighing up his options before signing what will most probably be the last big deal of his career. And that is understandable.
But if the club does end up doing well this season, he might possibly decide to remain at Old Trafford.
