Ever since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer became the manager of Manchester United, the team has shown significant improvement. But they have not won a trophy under the Norwegian manager yet, with their Europa League final defeat vs Villarreal the closest they have come till now.

Naturally, the club’s next target must to be lift some silverware. But do they look ready to challenge for trophies this time around?

It will depend on how the summer signings fit into this squad and how some of the club’s top stars perform. But on paper, they certainly do look like a team capable of challenging for any trophy, even the Champions League.

There is a lot of individual talent and quality in this squad. But it will be equally important to perform as a team as well if they are to lift silverware.

More from Manchester United News

The Red Devils put in a brilliant performance against Everton in the last game of their pre-season with a number of their stars back in the line up. The likes of Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes were excellent. While Anthony Martial also led the line well. He perhaps deserved a goal for his performance but it didn’t come. The signs were very positive though considering his disappointing 2020/21 campaign.

It should not go without mentioning that the club have strengthened their squad significantly over the summer with Jadon Sancho already at Old Trafford and a move for Raphael Varane not seeming far away either. Thus, this team might be even stronger this time around.

The challenges will be tougher as well though, with Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea all looking stronger also. It should be an exciting season of Premier League football. And the Red Devils look ready.
