Marcus Rashford has been one of Manchester United’s best players for a few years. Still just 23 years of age, he has been a first-team regular for the Red Devils for five seasons or so now and made over 250 appearances for the club already.
In terms of goals and assists, last season was one of his best. But it did appear that the youngster was carrying an injury for a while which seemed to have an effect on his performances in the second half of the campaign.
After a brilliant start to the 2020/21 campaign, Rashford appeared to fade away later on in the season. He also did not play much in the England national team’s EURO 2020 campaign but unfortunately did miss a spot kick in the penalty shootout in the final.
Rashford has undergone surgery this off-season and will miss the start of the 2021/22 campaign. He posted a picture of himself following surgery on his Twitter, with the caption reading:
"“Thank you for all the well wishes. I had my surgery on Friday morning and everything went very well. A little sore but other than that I’m feeling good. Hope you’re all having a great day!”"

Rashford is set to miss the start of Manchester United’s campaign
Rashford not being available will be a blow to the Red Devils. But him undergoing this surgery was the best decision for both the player and the club in the long run.
He clearly was not at his best in the second half of the previous campaign and it did feel like the injury might have played a part in that.
Now, it remains to be seen how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side line up in the absence of Rashford. The England international has been a regular in the first-team for a long-time, most often featuring as a left winger. It will be interesting to see who features there now that he is set to be out of action for a while.
The club have brought in Jadon Sancho this summer, who although mostly a right-winger, is very capable of playing on the left as well. Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood could be interesting options as well.
