Manchester United have been heavily linked with a number of players over the course of the past few months. One of them is Atletico Madrid right-back, Kieran Trippier.
Right-back is an area of the squad that the Red Devils are believed to have been looking to strengthen in over the course of this summer transfer window. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been the regular starter there ever since joining the club but the depth behind him has appeared to be thin at times.
And it looked like it was Trippier who the club wanted to sign to add competition in the position. The England international joined Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2019 and played a big part in their La Liga winning campaign last season.
But as reported by the Mirror, Manchester United have ended their interest in Trippier.

Manchester United have ended their transfer interest in Trippier
There might be two possible reasons behind such a decision on the part of the Red Devils with several weeks of the transfer window remaining.
While Trippier was believed to be keen on returning to England, but it might have been difficult to agree a transfer fee with Atletico Madrid. Some rumours even suggested that Trippier was rated at around €40 million.
On the other hand, the form of Diogo Dalot might have played a part in the decision as well. The Portuguese international has been very impressive in recent times. He had a solid 2020/21 season on loan at AC Milan and then featured for the Portugal national team at UEFA EURO 2020.
He has looked great in pre-season as well and it looks like he might have played his way into Solskjaer’s plans for the upcoming campaign.
Overall though, the club should be delighted with their summer transfer window as they have managed to sign Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton, while a move for Raphael Varane appears to be only a matter of time.
