Lionel Messi to PSG could give Manchester United double boost
Following an emotional farewell, Lionel Messi is set to leave FC Barcelona this summer. At this point of time, Paris Saint-Germain are believed to be the heavy favourites for his signature. And if the Argentine legend ends up joining the French giants, it could hand Manchester United a double boost.
It is safe to say that most people would have expected Messi to remain at FC Barcelona for the rest of his career. But circumstances mean that he is a free agent this summer.
While a number of top European clubs, including Manchester United, have been linked with a potential move, Paris Saint-Germain appears to be his most likely destination at this point of time.
Regarding the situation, Fabrizio Romano tweeted out:

Messi to PSG could hand Manchester United a double boost
Now, it is safe to say that signing Messi would most probably make Paris Saint-Germain the favourites for next season’s UEFA Champions League title. But it could be a positive for the Red Devils as well.
The French giants have been heavily linked with a move for Paul Pogba in recent times but if they end up signing Messi, it is unlikely that they will make a move for the French midfield maestro this summer.
On the other hand, there could be a similar situation surrounding Eduardo Camavinga as well, who the Red Devils are believed to be interested in signing. A move for Messi might make it very difficult for Paris Saint-Germain to make any more big moves in this summer transfer window.
Even then, competition is expected to be tough for Camavinga’s signature and Pogba’s future remains up in the air as well, considering he is in the final 12 months of his current deal now. And thus, Manchester United will have a tough decision on their hands if the French World Cup winner does not end up extending his contract in the near future. It remains to be seen what the future holds.
