Manchester United might have one advantage in Lionel Messi transfer race
Lionel Messi’s incredible run at FC Barcelona will come to an end this summer as the Argentine legend is set to depart Camp Nou. Naturally, some of the biggest clubs in Europe have been linked with a move for him including Manchester United.
There was a feeling for the majority of the transfer window that Messi would extend his contract with the club and remain at Camp Nou. The club and the player had even reached an agreement but as reported by FC Barcelona’s official website, it could not happen because of Spanish La Liga regulations on player registration.
As a result, Messi will be available on a free transfer this summer and chances like this come only once in a lifetime, if that.
At this point of time, Paris Saint-Germain appear to be favourites to sign him this summer. But the Red Devils might have one advantage in the transfer race.

Manchester United might have one advantage in Messi transfer race
As reported by The Athletic (via Mirror) last year when Messi was being heavily linked with a move to Manchester City, it was claimed that he was “more charmed” by “historic English clubs such as Manchester United”. It is also believed that he had grown keen on the idea of playing in London after having spoken regularly with former teammate Cesc Fabregas.
Recent rumours have suggested that the Red Devils could very well try to bring the Argentine legend to Old Trafford. But at this point of time, Paris Saint-Germain do seem like his most likely destination.
The presence of Neymar there as well as the incredible team that they have managed to build in this summer transfer window could play a massive factor in his decision as well as the fact that the French giants are regularly competing in all three competitions that they play in.
