Manchester United have been linked with some of the best players in the world over the course of the last few months. And they have managed to sign a couple of them already.

Jadon Sancho has already arrived at Old Trafford while a move has been agreed with Real Madrid for Raphael Varane and that looks like a matter of time now. Thus, it is safe to say that the Red Devils have strengthened their squad heading into the new season.

They are not expected to stop there though and could look to strengthen even further. And it is not just this summer transfer window that they might have plans for but the next one as well.

Leon Goretzka is someone that they have been linked with recently. Rumours suggest that the Red Devils are interested in signing the midfielder if he becomes a free agent next summer, with just a year left on his current deal at Bayern Munich. But as tweeted out by Tobi Altschäffl, talks have resumed between the Bundesliga giants and the German international, and a quick agreement is now possible:

Manchester United handed transfer blow in Goretzka race

Goretzka has been in brilliant form for Bayern Munich for quite a while now. Great at both side of things, the German international has the potential to be one of the best midfielders in world football if he is not already.

And at 26 years of age, he is entering his prime as a footballer and is only expected to get better moving forward. Thus, it goes without saying that signing someone like Goretzka would be considered as a major boost for any club.

It is worth pointing out that both Liverpool and Real Madrid have been linked with Goretzka as well but it looks like he might end up agreeing a new contract with Bayern Munich in the near future.
