3 players Manchester United made a mistake letting go too early
It is safe to say that Manchester United have not enjoyed a lot of success ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. There have been promising spells under a number of managers but ultimately, they have not led to consistent success.
The club have signed a number of top players since then. But not a lot of them have managed to go on and have brilliant careers at Old Trafford.
And there have been quite a few of them that the club have let go too early, and who have gone on to have great careers elsewhere.
Of course, things are looking up now with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the manager. While they are yet to win a trophy during the Norwegian’s spell, they have made a lot of progress in that period of time. And after making some brilliant signings this summer, hopefully they will be able to bring an end to their trophyless streak soon.
3 players Manchester United made a mistake letting go too early
Here are three players that Manchester United made a mistake letting go too early and who could have had great careers at Old Trafford:
Angel Di Maria
As a player, there is not much to say about Di Maria that has not been said already. He is absolutely spectacular and is perhaps one of the most underrated players of this generation.
Since leaving Old Trafford, Di Maria has enjoyed a spectacular career at Paris Saint-Germain. And one has to wonder what could have been if he had spent more than just one single season playing for the Red Devils.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 4 goals and provided 12 assists in 32 appearances for Manchester United. Those are not bad stats, especially considering the fact that it never looked like he had quite settled into his new surroundings. On top of that, the style of football might not have been a great fit for him either. On the other hand, he has scored 88 goals and provided 110 assists for PSG since joining them.
