Manchester United handed massive Ruben Neves transfer boost
Manchester United are expected to make a move for a midfielder in this summer transfer window. Paul Pogba’s future remains up in the air at the moment with just a year on his current deal while Nemanja Matic is set to turn 33 years of age soon. There are some rumours about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer making a change in the formation as well.
Thus, the middle of the park is an area where the Red Devils could look to strengthen in this summer and they have been linked with several midfielders over the course of the last few weeks. One of them is Ruben Neves.
Neves has been one of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ most important players for years now. He joined the club back in the summer of 2017 and his current deal with them runs till the summer of 2024.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Neves has made 176 appearances for Wolves till now, scoring 20 goals and providing 10 assists. He also has made 22 appearances for the Portugal national team.
Manchester United handed Neves transfer boost
While speaking on The Football Terrace podcast and as reported by Express, journalist Pete O’Rourke said:
"“He’s probably one of their most sellable assets, along with Adama Traore, and if Manchester United do follow up their interest with a firm offer I think they’ll find it hard to turn it down.“And Ruben Neves would jump at the chance of moving to Old Trafford.”"

If the Red Devils can sign Neves, it would be considered as a major coup. The Portuguese star has already proven himself in the Premier League and could be a brilliant addition to Solskjaer’s side.
While Scott McTominay and Fred were Solskjaer’s first-choice pairing in the middle of the park last season, there is a feeling that that is an area on the pitch where they could improve even further. And someone like Neves could certainly do that. Recent rumours also suggest that Wolves could be open to letting him leave this summer.
It must be pointed out though that Neves is just one of the several midfielders that the Red Devils have been linked with recently. Names like Eduardo Camavinga, Saul Niguez, Declan Rice and several others have been brought up as well.
