With the season approaching fast, Manchester United are making moves to bring in players and it is safe to say that they have made a fantastic start to the transfer window. Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton have already been signed while a deal has been agreed to sign Raphael Varane from Real Madrid as well.
There is one player who could be on his way out of the club this summer though in the form of Phil Jones. The Englishman was completely absent in the 2020-21 campaign and did not make a single appearance for the Red Devils, as an injury has kept him out of action for over a year.
The 29-year-old was signed from from Blackburn Rovers back in 2011 when he was still a teenager and he was considered as one of the most highly-rated young defenders in world football at the time.
With Varane set to join the club as well, Jones might now be a long way down Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pecking order when he returns to action. And as reported by 90 Min, Manchester United are ready to let him leave on a free transfer in order to facilitate a move for him this summer.

Jones could be set to depart Manchester United this summer
Jones has now been at the club for over a decade. His current contract runs till the summer of 2023 but it looks like he could very well be on his way out of the club in the near future.
As reported by Eurosport, West Ham United are interested in signing the defender. David Moyes is believed to be keen on working with him again. It looks like they are waiting to discover whether he is open to a highly incentivised contract. Newcastle United are also believed to be interested in his signature.
Jones has been at Old Trafford for a long time and he has played under six different managers during that time. But it looks like it might be time for the player and the club to part ways this summer.
