Manchester United have already completed the signings of Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton. And it looks like they are getting closer to a move for Raphael Varane as well.

Thus, it is safe to say that the Red Devils are having a brilliant summer transfer window and after finishing second in the Premier League last season, they should now be considered as one of the title challengers for next season. In fact, the club are expected to make additions in a few more positions.

But for all their brilliance in this transfer window, Manchester United’s biggest decision this summer has been extending the contract of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

As reported by the club’s official website, Solskjaer has signed a new contract and it will see him at the club until at least 2024, with an option for a further year.

Solskjaer is set to be the Manchester United manager for the foreseeable future

The club have clearly made some impressive progress during the time of the Norwegian as their manager. Last season, they finished second in the Premier League, only the second time that that has happened ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. They also finished the season as the Europa League runners up.

Overall, they also look like a very hard team to beat and not many teams managed to do that over the 90 minutes through the course of the 2020/21 campaign. In fact, they had the same number of losses in the Premier League as Manchester City last season. Thus, there are a lot of positive signs to be encouraged by.

But on the other hand, it is also true that they have not won a single trophy during Solskjaer’s time as the club’s manager. And he will need to make sure that that trophyless streak comes to an end as soon as possible.
