There’s a lot of positivity around Manchester United at the moment. The club have made a brilliant start to their summer transfer window, securing the signings of Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton.

And things could get even better moving forward, as the club are being heavily linked with a move for Raphael Varane, who has only one year left on his current deal with Real Madrid and could very well be on the move this summer.

Thus, it is safe to say that it is an exciting time at the Theatre of Dreams right now. But there is some bad news on the injury front. Alex Telles has suffered an ankle injury and looks set to be out of action for a few weeks.

As reported by the club’s official website, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said:

"“Unfortunately, Alex slipped and he twisted his ankle so he’ll be out for a few weeks. We’re hoping that it’s not going to be too bad but he’ll be out for a little while.”"

Can Telles make his mark at Manchester United this season?

Telles moved to the club last summer but has not been able to establish himself in the first-team yet. A large part of that is down to the incredible form that Luke Shaw has showcased in that period of time.

On current form, Shaw is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League and perhaps in world football. Thus, it is hard to see Telles moving ahead of him in the pecking order.

But it is very possible that the Brazilian could find himself in the first-team picture if Shaw has a dip in form or suffers an injury himself. In that scenario, having someone of the quality of Telles in the squad would be a massive positive.

For the time being though, the most important thing will be for the 28-year-old to recover from his injury as soon as possible and get back on the pitch. Hopefully, he will be fit in time for the start of the season. We wish him the best in his recovery.
