Manchester United star was offered to FC Barcelona
Manchester United are expected to make a splash in this summer transfer window. They have already signed Tom Heaton on a free transfer, agreed a deal with Borussia Dortmund for Jadon Sancho and are being heavily linked with a move for Raphael Varane as well.
But on the other hand, players could be headed out of Old Trafford as well. And rumours have constantly surrounded the future of Donny van de Beek at the club.
The Dutch midfielder arrived last summer but could not manage to find his feet in English football. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he made 36 appearances for the club last season, scoring once and assisting twice.
One of the most highly-rated young midfielders in the world during his time at Ajax, things have not gone as Van de Beek would have hoped. And as reported by Mundo Deportivo (via Give Me Sport), FC Barcelona were offered the chance to sign Van de Beek this summer after they failed to sign Georginio Wijnaldum.

Could Van de Beek be set to leave Manchester United this summer?
It is safe to say that Van de Beek’s first season at Old Trafford did not go the way many would have expected. But there is no question about his talent or potential.
We have seen many players come from different leagues and take time to adjust to the English game, only to have brilliant careers from there on. As a result, Van de Beek’s lack of form should not be a cause for worry.
Manchester United should definitely consider keeping him at Old Trafford beyond this summer. It is important how Van de Beek develops from here and adjusts his game to the Premier League. We have already seen how great he can be when on top form, both for Ajax and the Netherlands national team. Hopefully, he can replicate that for the Red Devils as well.
