Manchester United are expected to make quite a few signings over the course of the summer transfer window as the club could be looking to strengthen in a number of positions on the pitch.

They have already signed Tom Heaton on a free transfer and agreed a deal with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of Jadon Sancho. Raphael Varane is another player who is being heavily linked with an Old Trafford switch, as it looks like it could be a very exciting summer for the club and its fans.

But players could be headed out of the Theatre of Dreams as well. And one such player could be Alex Telles, who could not nail down a regular spot in the first-team since arriving at Old Trafford, largely due to Luke Shaw’s incredible form. As a result, he has been linked with several clubs in recent weeks, one of them being Inter Milan, for whom he has played in the past.

Inter Milan CEO for sport, Giuseppe Marotta, has refused to rule out the possibility of a move for Telles. As reported by Sky Sport, he said:

"“I’m not ruling out anything, in football anything can happen.”"

Could Telles be set to depart Manchester United this summer?

It is safe to say that Telles has not found his feet in English football till now. But that does not mean that his second season cannot be much better. We have seen many players in the past come in from different leagues and improve immensely in their second season.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he made 24 appearances for the Red Devils last season, providing 4 assists in the process of doing so.

But at this point of time, it is hard to see him moving ahead of Shaw in the pecking order as the Englishman looks like one of the best left-backs on the planet right now. The 26-year-old England international had a tremendous club season and was very impressive at EURO 2020 as well. As a result, a move away might make sense for Telles.
