Manchester United star linked with Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma

Manchester United are expected to sign quite a few players in this summer transfer window. In fact, they have already agreed a deal with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of Jadon Sancho and signed Tom Heaton on a free transfer.

But on the other hand, certain players could be headed out of Old Trafford as well. One such player could end up being Alex Telles.

Telles was signed from FC Porto last summer and came with a lot of expectations. But he was unable to find a regular place in the first-team, with Luke Shaw playing perhaps the best football of his career and establishing himself as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League.

As a result, Telles is already being linked with a move away from the Theatre of Dreams. As reported by Calciomercato (via Caught Offside), Telles is one of the names on the list of possible options to replace Leonardo Spinazzola, who suffered an injury while playing for Italy at EURO 2020. AS Roma could be looking to bring the Brazilian left-back in on loan.

Telles might be set to leave Manchester United this summer

Telles is a quality left-back in his own right but in the current form that Shaw is in, it is unlikely that he will be able to get ahead of the English international in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pecking order anytime soon.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he made just 24 appearances for Manchester United last season across all competitions. As a result, a move away from Old Trafford this summer might be the best option for Telles if he wants to play regular first-team football next season.

He already has experience of playing in Italy, having represented Inter Milan in the past. Thus, it is not hard to see why AS Roma might be interested in signing him. Now, it remains to be seen whether a move takes place.
