Chelsea join Manchester United in race to sign £25 million Denmark star
Manchester United are expected to be looking to sign a centre-back this summer. Raphael Varane has been heavily linked with the club. But if they are to somehow miss out on the Real Madrid superstar, the Red Devils appear to have a number of potential alternatives in their sights.
Over the last two years under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the club has shown tremendous progress in the final third of the pitch. But they will need to improve their defence even further moving forward.
As a result, they are believed to be looking for a partner for Harry Maguire in the heart of defence. And one man who they have appeared to have on their radar is Joachim Andersen. But they are not believed to be the only club interested in the centre-back’s signature.
As reported by The Sun the likes of Chelsea, Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace have all been monitoring the defender’s situation as well.

Manchester United have been linked with a transfer move for Andersen
On loan from Lyon, Andersen played the 2020-21 campaign for Fulham. Despite eventually getting relegated from the Premier League, Andersen did manage to stand out while playing for them. And as a result, he has managed to catch the eye of clubs around England.
Lyon are expected to be looking for a transfer fee in the region of £25 million for the 25-year-old, who ended up captaining Fulham during his loan stay with the club last season.
While Varane appears to be the first-choice centre-back target for the Red Devils this summer, someone like Andersen could certainly prove to be an interesting signing for the club moving forward as well if they end up missing out on the French World Cup winner.
It is worth pointing out that other names like Jules Kounde, Cristian Romero, Nikola Milenkovic, Pau Torres and several more have also been linked with the club in recent months.
