Manchester United have built a sustainable way of nurturing young talent from their academy through the years by sending them out on loan when they need playing time but are not going to get a lot of it at Old Trafford at that point in their careers.

During these loan spells, youngsters earn priceless experience of playing at the senior level and improving their overall games.

Ahead of the 2021-22 season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have certain decisions to make. It is only natural that some players will be heading out of Old Trafford and he will need to decide which young players will be leaving on loan in order gain valuable first-team experience.

Tahith Chong is going to be one of them. As confirmed by Manchester United’s official website, the 21-year-old will be joining Birmingham City on a season-long loan.

Chong leaves Manchester United on loan once again

Having won both Young Player of the Year and Reserve Player of the Year at the club in the past, it is safe to say that Chang was very highly-rated while coming through the youth ranks. Signed from Feyenoord in 2016, he made his senior debut for the Red Devils in early 2019.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 16 senior appearances for the club till now, and provided a couple of assists. But Chong never managed to break into the first-team on a regular basis and was sent out on loan in the previous campaign.

He was at Werder Bremen at first but failed to find his feet there. Ultimately, he was brought back and sent out on loan to Club Brugge. It was there that Chong started to showcase his talents and although he was at the Belgian club for a short while, he did make his mark. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored once and provided 5 assists in 13 appearances for them.

Now, it remains to be seen how he does in English football when he is with Birmingham City in the 2021/22 campaign. The club finished 18th in the Championship last season.
