Manchester United have already added quality up top by agreeing a deal with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of Jadon Sancho, a player that the Red Devils have been linked with for years and is expected to come in and quickly make the right wing spot his own. But even then, striker is an area where the club could do with a few more options in.

Edinson Cavani looked spectacular in the last few months of the previous season. But at the end of the day, he is 34 years of age and not a long-term solution for the club at striker. Also, the Uruguayan has had his fair share of injury problems in recent times. On the other hand, Mason Greenwood has not looked ready to lead the line on his own yet.

Thus, it would not be a surprise if the Red Devils do consider signing a new striker this summer. And one of the players who has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford in recent times is Harry Kane.

Kane appears to be open to the idea of leaving Tottenham Hotspur in the summer. And as reported by Football Insider, Manchester United are in pole position to sign Kane following behind-the-scenes developments.

Kane would be a sensational signing for Manchester United

There is no doubt that Kane is one of the best strikers to ever play in the Premier League. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 221 goals for Tottenham Hotspur through the course of his career. But for all of his brilliance, he is yet to win a trophy.

Someone like Kane would be a sensational signing for the Red Devils and would immediately make them one of the favourites for the Premier League title.

But the club have already agreed a big move for Sancho. And Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be looking for a transfer fee of around £100 million plus two first-team stars in part-exchange for Kane. As a result, you have to wonder how likely a move is this summer, especially considering the current financial condition and the fact that the Red Devils are also being linked with moves for the likes of Raphael Varane and Eduardo Camavinga.
