A number of Manchester United players could be set to depart this summer in search of playing time. Axel Tuanzebe appears to be one of them and looks set for an Old Trafford exit.

After an impressive start to the campaign, it looked like Tuanzebe could challenge for a starting spot for the Red Devils last season. But that was not to be and the defender ended up making only 19 appearances across all competitions and playing 918 minutes of football, according to stats from Transfermarkt.

As a result, he could be on his way out soon. As reported by Express & Star, Aston Villa have been placed on alert after it emerged that Tuanzebe is likely to leave on a season-long loan this summer.

The defender has already spent a season-and-a-half on loan at Aston Villa in the past. And a return to Villa Park might very well be on the cards for the 23-year-old.

Tuanzebe looks set to leave Manchester United on loan this summer

Tuanzebe’s contract at Old Trafford runs out at the end of the upcoming season. But the club have the option to extend it by an additional year.

Not too long ago, it had looked like Tuanzebe was set for a breakout season after putting in an incredible performance in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain. But it is safe to say that things did not go that way and ultimately, he was behind Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly in the pecking order through the course of the campaign.

And with the club expected to bring in a world-class centre-back this summer as well, his minutes on the pitch could decrease further. Thus, it might be the right idea for him to go out on loan for a season in search of playing time and when he returns, hopefully he is set to compete for a first-team spot.
