Manchester United have been linked with a number of players over the course of the last few months as they look to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils finished second in the Premier League last season and as runners up in the Europa League. It was a promising campaign for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and they showed a lot of progress. But ultimately they could not win silverware and this was their fourth straight trophyless season. That is something that needs to change soon.
Eduardo Camavinga has appeared to emerge as a transfer target recently. The 18-year-old is one of the most highly-rated young talents in the world right now. And with just a year left on his current deal with Rennes, the midfielder could be on the move this summer.
Rio Ferdinand has questioned though whether a player like Camavinga is what Manchester United need at this point of time. Speaking on his YouTube show, Vibe with Five, and as reported by Mirror, he said:
"“Talent? Obviously. Is he going to come in and affect the team right now and become a star, or is he going to come in and be a bit like an Amad, who comes in for £40m but is nowhere near the starting 11?“Is that what we [United] need? Or do we need someone like Declan Rice who is flying at the moment?“In an England shirt, he’s taken it to other levels now. We all knew he was a good player at West Ham but what Declan Rice is doing in the England team right now, for his age, is madness.”"

Camavinga or Rice, who would be a better signing for Manchester United right now?
Camavinga is 18 years of age. So if he was to move to the Premier League it would be expected for him to take some time to adjust to the English game.
On the other hand, Rice has been playing in the Premier League for years now and he has already proven that he can perform in English football.
Thus, if the club are thinking about the here and the now, Rice would probably be the better signing as chances are that his impact will be more immediate. But when it comes to the long-term, Camavinga might have more potential than the English international.
Of course, a lot will depend on how the French youngster would adjust to the Premier League as well. But then, at this point of time, Rice’s transfer fee is expected to be higher than that of Camavinga. So, there are a lot of things to consider.
