Manchester United have made a sensational start to the summer transfer window. After being linked with him for years, the club managed to agree a deal with Borussia Dortmund for Jadon Sancho, as it looks like he is set to play his football at the Theatre of Dreams next season.

On the other hand, they have signed Tom Heaton on a free transfer. With the futures of David de Gea and Dean Henderson up in the air at the moment, Heaton could be the number two for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer if either of the two was to leave this summer.

The Red Devils won’t be expected to stop here though. There are still a few areas in the squad which might need reinforcements over the course of the summer. Thus, more signings might be made in the next few months. But it looks like it is the contract situation of one of their current stars, which is the Red Devils’ next priority.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted out that Bruno Fernandes’ contract will be the club’s next priority:

Manchester United are looking to give Bruno Fernandes a new contract

It is safe to say that Fernandes has been one of the best players in the Premier League ever since moving to Old Trafford and he has been the talisman in Solskjaer’s side. According to stats from Transfermarkt, the attacking midfielder scored 28 goals and provided 17 assists last season. That is incredible for any player.

Thus, it is only natural that the club would like to keep the Portuguese midfield maestro for as long as they can as Fernandes’ performances are sure to have caught the eyes of clubs around Europe.

His current contract with the Red Devils is believed to run till the summer of 2025, with the option for another year. And one can only hope that he remains at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future.
