Signing a new centre-back appears to be near the top of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s summer wish list. As a result, Manchester United have been linked with a number of centre-backs over the last few months.
Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have served as Solskjaer’s first-choice pairing in the heart of the Red Devils’ defence recently. And while they have managed to form a formidable duo, it does feel like that it is area on the pitch that the club could improve further in.
Jules Kounde is a player who has emerged as one of the best centre-backs in La Liga in recent times. He has been very impressive for Sevilla and it looks like a number of top European sides are interested in signing him this summer. The Red Devils are believed to be one of them.
It appears that the Red Devils have already even made an offer to Sevilla for the defender. As reported by Duncan Castles and The Transfer Window Podcast (via Metro), Manchester United’s opening transfer bid of around €45 million has been rejected by Sevilla, who are holding out for a much bigger offer.

Kounde could be a brilliant signing for Manchester United
Kounde has emerged as one of the brightest young defenders in world football today. The 22-year-old has already showed his quality in both Ligue 1 and La Liga, and has represented the France national team as well.
Someone like Kounde could be a brilliant signing for the Red Devils. But the competition is expected to be tough for his signature. Real Madrid, Chelsea and quite a few other clubs have been linked with a move for the defender in the summer transfer window.
It is worth pointing out though that Solskjaer’s side appear to have several other centre-backs on their radar too. The likes of Raphael Varane, Pau Torres, Nikola Milenkovic and several others have been linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams as well.
