Manchester United interested in rising South American playmaker
Manchester United signed both Donny van de Beek and Edinson Cavani last summer. There was not much speculation about their arrivals beforehand, and the club moved quickly to get the deals over the line.
Are they preparing to show the same kind of swiftness and efficiency this time as well? We will have to wait and see.
Finishing second in the Premier League last season, the club must be looking to take that final step and return to the top of English football. But despite their strong campaign, their squad does not appear to have the depth of teams like Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea. This summer transfer window could provide a brilliant opportunity for the Red Devils to close down the gap in squad depth.
As reported by journalist Sebastian Srur on TNT Sports (via Sports Witness), Manchester United are one of the clubs who want to sign River Plate’s Nicolás De La Cruz. Other than the Red Devils, Fiorentina are also believed to be interested in the 24-year-old playmaker, and an offer could arrive soon.

Manchester United linked with Uruguayan attacking midfielder
Previously linked with the likes of Manchester City and Everton, De La Cruz is thought to be nearing the peak of his abilities and could be ready to take the next big step. Other than the two already mentioned, other European clubs interested in him could appear in the near future as well.
He has been very impressive for River Plate in recent times and appears to have caught the eye of clubs around Europe because of his displays for the Argentinian giants as well as the Uruguay national team.
It looks like clubs interested in De La Cruz could be willing to shell out transfer fees between €16 million and €20 million to try and sign him from River Plate.
