Goalkeeping is one of the strongest areas of Manchester United’s squad at this point of time. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has two world-class goalkeepers competing for the first-team gloves in the form of Dean Henderson and David de Gea. And beyond them, there are some more quality options as well.
But it looks like the department might end up going quite a few changes this summer. Sergio Romero is set to leave the club after six years, with his contract running out at the end of this month.
The futures of both Henderson and De Gea appear to be up in the air as well. It is expected that neither of them would want to sit on the bench next season. Thus, it is very possible that one of them could be headed out of Old Trafford in the near future. On the other hand, Tom Heaton looks set to return to the club this summer as a free agent.
Manchester United’s official website has confirmed that goalkeeper Nathan Bishop has joined League Two side Mansfield Town on loan for the 2021/22 season. This will be his first loan move away from Old Trafford.

Bishop joins Mansfield Town on a season-long loan from Manchester United
The Red Devils signed Bishop from Southend United in January of 2020. And while he has shown good potential, the goalkeeper is yet to make a first-team appearance for the senior team.
Thus, this loan move away could prove to be a great learning curve for the player and hopefully he will get regular first-team experience during his time with Mansfield Town.
Bishop is set to remain with the Red Devils for the beginning of pre-season before joining up with Mansfield United at an agreed time before their League Two campaign.
The loan move away for Bishop could prove to be just one of many changes coming at Old Trafford surrounding the club’s goalkeeping department, over the course of the summer.
