With the Euro 2020 group stage already over, we are heading towards the knockout phase of the competition. But let us take a look back at how the Manchester United players performed for their respective countries on Matchday 2.

There were both highs and lows for some of the players. While some played important roles for their teams, some did not feature.

The biggest game of this matchday was certainly between England and Scotland, which ended in a goalless draw.

One man who won’t be featuring in the competition is Dean Henderson, with the Red Devils’ goalkeeper dropping out of the England squad due to injury.

Manchester United Player Grades: EURO 2020 Matchday 2

Group A

Daniel James – The winger was impressive in the 2-0 win over Turkey, using his speed as an outlet to cause the opposition defence constant worries. He showed his potential before being substituted off in the 94th minute. C+

Dylan Levitt – Did not play.

Group D

Harry Maguire – Did not play.

Luke Shaw – His constant overlaps helped England create some chances down the left hand side. The left-back grew as the game went on, and was one of the better performers on the day. B

Marcus Rashford – Rashford came on for the last 16 minutes of the game against Scotland. He replaced Harry Kane up front. He did not impose himself on the tie, failing to register any meaningful chances on goal as things finished 0-0. C

Scott McTominay – Played out of his usual position. The midfielder started at centre-back for Scotland. McTominay had a solid but unremarkable game, playing his role effectively and was a target at set pieces, but failed to score. B+

Group E

David De Gea – Did not play.

Victor Lindelof – The Swede was solid in defence, cutting out any Slovakia chances that looked to be appearing. Did enough to keep Slovakia quiet in what was Sweden’s second straight clean sheet. C+

Group F

Paul Pogba – Not a great performance after his brilliant display against Germany. It was not a good day overall for the France national team but they managed to come out with a draw against Hungary. C

Bruno Fernandes – A difficult start to Euro 2020 for the midfield maestro. He struggled to get a foothold in the game. His energy in midfield was praiseworthy, but it just wasn’t Fernandes’ day. C+
