The rumours surrounding a return to Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo have never quite gone away despite the fact that it has been over a decade since he departed Old Trafford to join Real Madrid in a then world record transfer.

Now 36 years of age, if a return is to ever take place, there is a feeling that it will have to be his next move. But it does look like he could be on his way out of Juventus this summer.

When the Portuguese superstar moved to Turin back in 2018, there was a belief that he could be the missing piece of the puzzle in Juventus’ quest to win the UEFA Champions League after coming close on a number of occasions in recent years. Things have turned out quite differently though, as the Italian giants have appeared to take a step back in Europe in the last three years and also finished fourth in Serie A last season.

As a result, with just one more year left on his current deal, Ronaldo and Juventus might part ways this summer. And as reported by Corriere dello Sport (via Express), Manchester United are said to be willing to offer the Portuguese legend a deal worth €20 million (£17 million) per season.

Would Ronaldo be a good fit for Manchester United at this point of time?

Even at 36 years of age, Ronaldo is still performing at an incredible level, breaking records left, right and centre. But one has to admit that he is not as good as he was at his peak and that is only natural.

At the moment though, there will be questions about whether he can adjust to the Premier League if he did end up returning. The competition is very different now then it was back when he left in 2009.

But then, we have already seen Edinson Cavani make that adjustment last season. The Red Devils do not possess much depth up front at the moment either. As a result, a move for Ronaldo does make sense. Of course, every transfer comes with some amount of risk but there are very few footballers in history who have proven themselves as often as Ronaldo has.
