Cristiano Ronaldo showed yesterday that he continues to be a force in front of goal by scoring a brace against Hungary in Portugal’s 3-0 victory in their first game of the EURO 2020 group stage. He has been linked with a move away from Juventus this summer though and Manchester United appear to be one of the clubs interested in signing him.

It has been over a decade since Ronaldo left Old Trafford in a then world record deal to join Real Madrid. Since then, he has established himself as one of the greatest in the history of football and is now 36 years of age. But rumours surrounding a return to the Theatre of Dreams have never quite gone away.

You have to feel that this summer is the last chance for it to happen though. And while the Red Devils appear to be interested in making it happen, Manchester does not appear to be Ronaldo’s preferred destination.

As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport (via Daily Mail), PSG are his preferred option but the French giants are yet to offer him a deal. Manchester United are said to have swooped with a tempting proposition.

Manchester United want to bring back Ronaldo to Old Trafford

The Red Devils appear to be open to making an offer around £17 million-a-year to Ronaldo. With Paul Pogba’s future uncertain as well, the Frenchman could end up heading to Juventus as part of a swap deal as well.

With just a year left on his current deal, it is not hard to see why Juventus might want to find Ronaldo a new club this summer. Otherwise, he will become a free agent just a year later.

Now, it remains to be seen whether a return to Old Trafford takes place or not. Although he is 36 years of age, Ronaldo remains a brilliant goalscorer. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 101 goals for Juventus in 133 appearances for them. Thus, he could prove to be a good signing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, considering their lack of depth up top.
