It does feel like Jadon Sancho has been Manchester United’s top transfer target for quite a while now. The club had tried to bring him to Old Trafford last summer as well but a move failed to materialise back then.

Borussia Dortmund were believed to be looking for a transfer fee in the region of €120 million for the English international at that point of time. The Red Devils could not match that figure and as a result, Sancho remained at Signal Iduna Park.

A transfer appears to be much more likely this time around though. Borussia Dortmund could let Sancho leave for a transfer fee of around €95 million (£82 million) this summer. And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side once again seem very interested in the 21-year-old’s signature. It is believed that the move is getting close. But it looks like Liverpool have plans of their own.

As reported by Anfield Central, Michael Edwards, Liverpool’s sporting director, has used intermediaries to propose a deal for Sancho which includes zero add-ons. Liverpool are willing to pay two-thirds of the fee (£55 million) upfront and the remaining third (£27 million) in a second instalment. That will meet the £82 million transfer fee that Borussia Dortmund are believed to be looking for this summer.

Could Liverpool hijack Manchester United’s move for Sancho?

It is safe to say that the Sancho to Manchester United transfer saga has dragged on for a long time now. And despite the late interest from Liverpool, Sancho is still expected to move to Old Trafford.

If that does happen, it would be seen as a massive boost for the Red Devils. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Sancho has scored 50 goals and provided 64 assists in 137 appearances for Borussia Dortmund till now. Solskjaer could certainly do with a player with that kind of effectiveness in his squad.

Of course, things can change very quickly in football and a deal is not over the line yet. Thus, the Red Devils must be careful and try to get the transfer done as soon as possible.
