Manchester United’s transfer bid for Atletico Madrid star rejected
The summer transfer window is now open. And with that, many clubs, including Manchester United, have begun their preparation for the upcoming season, in what promises to be one of the most competitive Premier League campaigns ever.
Manchester United are expected to make a splash in the summer. So much so that they could bring in as many as four new signings to Old Trafford in their attempt to return to the top of the Premier League once again after finishing second last season.
Yes, the number is big, but it is what they might need to challenge for the title. Will they get them? That will certainly be interesting to say the least and only time will tell.
Manchester United are believed to be looking for a right-back. And Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier has been linked heavily with an Old Trafford switch in recent months.

Manchester United’s opening transfer bid knocked back by Atletico Madrid
As reported by Football Insider, Atletico Madrid have rejected Manchester United’s opening transfer bid of around £10 million for Kieran Trippier and they will need to increase it in order to seal the deal.
Trippier joined the La Liga giants back in 2019 and has already made 68 appearances for Diego Simeone’s side according to stats from Transfermarkt.
Having played for Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur in the past, Trippier has a lot of experience in the Premier League and could be looking to make a return.
The Red Devils might have their sights set on signing a backup option for Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer and as a result, Trippier has emerged as a target.
Trippier’s current contract runs till the summer of 2023 and thus, Atletico Madrid won’t be under immediate pressure to find the 30-year-old a new club. As a result, while the general feeling was that the Red Devils were getting closer to a deal for the right-back, things have certainly become more interesting now.
