After losing in the Europa League final at the hands of Unai Emery’s Villarreal, Manchester United are now without a trophy in four seasons and have never won one under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. And it goes without saying that they will be hoping to end this drought as soon as possible.

As a result, the club are expected to make a splash in the upcoming summer transfer window. While the team has shown promising signs of improvement over the past couple of years under Solskjaer, it looks like they might need a few more big signings before they are challenging for titles on a consistent basis.

One man that they have been linked with for quite some time now is Jadon Sancho. The Red Devils had tried to bring him to Old Trafford last summer but a move failed to materialise as Borussia Dortmund were believed to be looking for a €120 million transfer fee.

A transfer appears to be much more possible this summer though. As reported by SPORT1 (via Metro), they are getting closer to an agreement over a €90 million (£77 million) move with talks ramping up.

Sancho could be a brilliant signing for Manchester United

Right wing is an area on the pitch that the Red Devils do not possess much depth in at this point of time. As a result, Mason Greenwood has featured there for the majority of the 2020/21 season.

Signing someone with the quality of Sancho would immediately change that though and transform it into one of the side’s strong suits.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Sancho has scored 50 goals and provided 64 assists in 137 appearances through the course of his Borussia Dortmund career. Those are remarkable stats for someone who is still just 21 years of age and will only get better moving forward.

Thus, if the club are able to get a deal for him over the line this time around, it would be seen as a massive step in the right direction.
