Joel Glazer, the co-chairman of Manchester United, made an appearance on a fans’ forum on Friday and discussed a number of issues regarding the club with the supporters.

Since the proposals of the European Super League cropped up, before the competition’s ultimate suspension as a result of several clubs pulling out due to fan pressure, there have been calls to improve communication between the club and the supporters.

And the negative reaction to the European Super League from the majority of football fans around the globe just shows that how it all could have been avoided if supporters had been consulted about the idea in the very beginning.

Appearing on his first fans’ forum in the 16 years that Manchester United have been owned by his family, Glazer outlined that their goal is for the club to win every competition that it competes in and assured that they will continue to invest in the academy and the transfer market as well as growing the women’s team. As reported by the club’s official website, Glazer said:

"“Our goal is to win every competition we compete in, and we will continue to invest in our Academy and in the transfer market to support the manager in an effort to meet the club’s goals.“As a club we have devoted a lot of time and resources over the last several years updating and further developing our vast global scouting network to adapt to the modern football environment. This is a project that should provide a foundation for long-term success in the years to come.“In addition, as you all know, we have also been focused on growing and developing our women’s team in line with the traditions and values of the club, and we are committed to continuing that process.”"

Manchester United have a very important transfer window coming up

Despite the progress made on the pitch over the course of the past few years, Manchester United have not been able to get past the final hurdle and win a title. They have been without a trophy in four seasons now and will be keen to change that as soon as possible.

For that to happen, the squad needs to be strengthened further. While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a solid group of players, there are certain areas where the Red Devils can improve. And if these improvements can be made over the summer through good signings, then they will have a terrific chance of ending their trophyless run in the 2021/22 season.

This fans’ forum was certainly a step in the right direction. Now, let’s see what the future holds for the club.
