Aaron Wan-Bissaka has established himself as the first-choice right-back at Manchester United ever since joining the club from Crystal Palace back in the summer of 2019. But it is a position that the club do not possess much depth in at the moment.

Brandon Williams is capable of playing there but did not get too many chances this season. On the other hand, Diogo Dalot’s future remains up in the air after spending the campaign out on loan with AC Milan.

Thus, it would not be surprising if the club ended up signing a right-back this summer. They signed Alex Telles in the past summer transfer window and it resulted in Luke Shaw playing the best football of his career in a Manchester United shirt, establishing himself as perhaps the best left-back in the Premier League. As a result, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might look to repeat the trick with Wan-Bissaka as well.

As reported by Manchester Evening News, the club have revived their interest in Kieran Trippier. The English right-back is currently at Atletico Madrid where he won the La Liga title this season.

Trippier could be a shrewd signing for Manchester United

Defensively, Wan-Bissaka is one of the best full-backs in the league when on form. But questions have been raised about his attacking output for quite some time now.

He is still 23 years of age and has a lot of time to work and improve on that aspect of his game. But signing another right-back with different strengths to that of Wan-Bissaka could be a very good plan on the part of the Red Devils, especially when they are hoping to compete for trophies in the upcoming campaign after four straight trophyless seasons.

In that regard, Trippier would be a shrewd signing. He is 30 years of age and is believed to have 2 years left on his current deal with Atletico Madrid. He is a very different player to Wan-Bissaka and would give Solskjaer an option if or when the Norwegian manager wants to change things up.
