Jadon Sancho has emerged as one of the brightest prospects in world football over the past few years. And he looks set to leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer and has been heavily linked with both Manchester United and Chelsea.

The Red Devils have been trying to bring Sancho to Old Trafford for quite some time now. In fact, it appears they were looking for the move to happen last summer as well but ultimately could not meet the transfer fee Borussia Dortmund were believed to be looking for, €120 million.

It could be much easier to make a move happen for the England international this summer though as he could very possibly be available for a transfer fee between €85 million to €90 million, with Borussia Dortmund looking more open to the idea of Sancho’s departure.

As reported by The Athletic (via Metro), Sancho favours a transfer to Manchester United over Chelsea and has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford.

Signing Sancho would be a massive boost for Manchester United

It goes without saying that signing someone of Sancho’s quality would be a massive boost for the Red Devils. While the team have made progress under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, they are yet to win a single piece of silverware under him. Last Wednesday’s defeat at the hands of Villarreal in the Europa League final meant that the club had not won a trophy in the past four seasons.

That is something that needs to change. While Solskjaer has built a solid base, it is time to take a step to the next level. And someone like Sancho could help the club take that step.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Sancho has scored 50 goals and provided 64 assists in 137 appearances through the course of his Borussia Dortmund. Those are remarkable numbers, especially for a player who is still just 21 years of age. And Solskjaer could certainly do with a player with his directness and effectiveness in the team. Now, it remains to be seen whether the club can pull off a move of this magnitude.
