Manchester United might be coming off the back of a decent campaign but they are expected to make a splash in the upcoming summer transfer window, as they aim to take another step in the right direction.

One area of the squad that could be in need of reinforcements over the course of the summer is midfield. Paul Pogba’s future remains up in the air as the Frenchman is yet to sign a new contract with the Red Devils.

Also, Fred and Scott McTominay have served as the duo sitting infront of the backline in the middle of the park. But there is a feeling that that is an area where the club can improve further. Interestingly, Atletico Madrid’s Saul could be an option for them in the summer.

As reported by Marca (via Daily Star), Saul has a desire to leave the club. If that does happen, there will be no lack of interest in his signature. The likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain have all been linked with him.

Can Manchester United pull off a move for Saul?

Atletico Madrid might have had a memorable campaign, winning the La Liga title. But on an individual level, Saul did not have a great campaign.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Saul made 41 appearances across all competitions for Diego Simeone’s side, scoring twice and assisting once while featuring for 2673 minutes on the pitch.

He is no longer the undroppable for Simeone that he once was and made only 22 starts in the La Liga through the course of the season. Thus, the midfielder could very well be looking for a change of scenery.

Manchester United have been linked with him heavily in the past and it remains to be seen whether they can pull off a move if the opportunity is there in the near future.
