Despite their recent struggles to return to the top of English football, Manchester United remain one of the biggest clubs on the planet. Thus, it is only natural that they are constantly linked with players from all over the world.
Ruben Neves is one player who they have been linked with for quite some time now. The Portuguese midfielder has been an integral part of Wolves ever since joining them in 2017.
Back then his move was seen as a surprising one to say the least as Wolves were playing in the Championship at that point of time while Neves was believed to be a target for the likes of Juventus, Chelsea, Liverpool and many others.
Over the years, it has worked out quite well for the Portuguese midfielder though. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 176 appearances for the club through the course of his career as they have established themselves in the Premier League. But his time at the Molineux could be coming to an end soon. As reported by The Athletic (via Express), Wolves are planning a £35 million transfer for Neves.

Manchester United have been linked with Neves in the past
It has been a while since Manchester United were linked with Neves, but could his availability this summer lead them to consider a move for the midfielder once again?
Not too long ago, Neves was rated at around £50 million. Thus, a £35 million transfer fee might very well be considered a bargain for the Portuguese star. He has already shown that he can get it done at a very high level and at 24 years of age, is expected to get even better in the future.
The Red Devils could end up making a move for a central midfielder in the summer, as Paul Pogba might leave the club with just a year left on his current deal. On the other hand, there is a feeling that they might need reinforcements in midfield if they are to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title next season.
