Manchester United have enjoyed a pretty successful season this time around. They finished second in the Premier League table, which not many would have expected them to do at the start of the campaign, and are in the final of the Europa League as well, where they will have the chance to win their first piece of silverware under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Norwegian manager must be praised for the progress that the team have made under him over the past couple of years or so. But at Old Trafford, things never stay still and the Red Devils will be expected to return even better next season.

Thus, changes are expected to be made to the squad over the summer. And while that means new faces will arrive, some old ones could be set to depart as well.

As reported by the Manchester Gazette (via Express), Daniel James is unlikely to be at Old Trafford next season. He could remain in the Premier League though as Leicester City are believed to be leading the race for his signature.

James looks set to leave Manchester United after this season

James arrived at Old Trafford from Swansea City in the summer of 2019 in a transfer deal believed to be worth an initial £15 million.

The Wales international did make a fine start to life at the Theatre of Dreams but has faded away since then. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 71 appearances for the Red Devils overall, scoring and assisting 9 goals each.

He has not managed to establish himself as a starter under Solskjaer though and with the club expected to sign another winger in the upcoming summer transfer window, a move away could be the best option for both parties.

A move to Leicester City could be a brilliant step for the 23-year-old. The Foxes are a team on the rise and although they narrowly missed out on a Champions League spot this season, the FA Cup win shows the kind of potential they have.
