Currently on loan at AC Milan from Manchester United, Diogo Dalot has been linked with a permanent exit in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Signed by Jose Mourinho in the summer of 2018 from FC Porto for an initial transfer fee of around £19 million, Dalot came with a lot of expectations behind him. But till now, it is safe to say that he has not made his mark at Old Trafford and as a result, was sent out on loan this season.
Following the departure of Mourinho, Dalot never quite managed to establish himself as a first-team star under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Aaron Wan-Bissaka was signed from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2019 and he has been the regular starting right-back since then for the Red Devils.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, he made just 11 appearances across all competitions in the 2019-20 campaign, featuring for just 577 minutes of football.

Manchester United have reportedly set a transfer price for Dalot this summer
There have been rumours that AC Milan could consider making his loan stay permanent in the summer. There appears to be an update on the Dalot situation, with the news brought by Sky Sport journalist Emanuele Baiocchini and as reported by Sport Witness. Manchester United are looking for a transfer fee of around €20 million for the move.
As tweeted out by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano when the loan move was initially made, Dalot’s loan deal at AC Milan has no buy option included. Hence, the Serie A giants will have to agree a transfer fee with the Red Devils if they are to sign the Portuguese full-back on a permanent basis this summer.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Dalot has made 32 appearances for Stefano Pioli’s side across all competitions this season, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists in the process.
Playing as a left-back as well as a right-back through the course of the campaign, he has been quite impressive for AC Milan at times. However, it remains to be seen whether he will remain at the San Siro for the long-term or return to Old Trafford this summer.
