Manchester United will visit Gdansk to play their UEFA Europa League final against Villarreal next Wednesday. It is the first time Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have the chance to lift a trophy as the manager of the club, something that has eluded him till now despite the considerable progress that the team have made under him.

The Red Devils have already made sure that they will be playing Champions League football next season and will finish in second spot in the Premier League this season. However, the domestic campaign is not finished yet, with an away game against Wolves coming this Sunday.

Should they come out of the game without getting beaten, they will have gone the entire 2020/21 Premier League season without a defeat on the road, which is a remarkable feat especially when the schedule has been this tight.

But considering the fact that the Red Devils will play an European final just days later, Solskjaer might decide to rotate his squad in order to avoid injuries and keep them fresh heading into the big game.

Manchester United have their injury worries going into the final

Manchester United hosted a Fulham side on Tuesday that will be heading to the Championship next season after being relegated. But despite a brilliant goal from Edinson Cavani to welcome fans back to Old Trafford, the game ended in a 1-1 draw. What was even more worrying though was the knocks picked up by Fred and Scott McTominay during the match.

Following the game, as reported by Sky Sports, Solskjaer said:

"“We’ve had a couple of players that got knocks and injuries today with Scott [McTominay] and Fred. So I’ll see how they are. Unfortunately, Scott had to come off and Fred doesn’t look great when he’s walking now.”"

There are doubts over the fitness of Maguire and Martial as well. But it does look like Solskjaer has a positive update regarding Fred and McTominay. As reported by the club’s official website, while speaking ahead of the upcoming game against the Wolves, he said:

"“I know Anthony is not going to be available. Scott and Fred should be okay.”"

Since Maguire picked up an injury in the game against Aston Villa, Manchester United haven’t won a game. Without their captain, they just have not looked the same. And their recent form will be a cause of worry for Solskjaer. Martial has been out for a long time as well.

The knocks picked up by Fred and McTominay could be a worry too. While it looks like they will be available, will they be 100%? That is the big question.
