There is no questioning the fact that Bruno Fernandes has emerged as an absolute superstar ever since joining Manchester United. The Portuguese playmaker has won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year Award in successive seasons and is one of the best players in the Premier League at this point of time.

He is one of the biggest reasons behind the club’s progress over the past season-and-a-half to the point where they have the chance to win their piece of silverware under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when they face Villarreal in the Europa League final.

The ultimate aim of the club would be to return to the top of English football and challenge in the Champions League on a consistent basis. In that regard, they are quite a few steps away. Thus, the club are expected to strengthen even further in the upcoming summer transfer window. Could one of Bruno Fernandes’ former teammates be the solution to some of the Red Devils’ problems?

Fernandes has admitted that he would like to play with Piotr Zielinski again one day. While speaking with Canal Plus Sport and as reported by Sport Bible, he said:

"“Technically, I can say that Zielinski is better trained than I am. We had a good challenge. I think in the past, Zielinski was actually a bit shy. He was really young then, just like me, at that time.“However, we came from different countries, different mentality, and it was different for both of us. I have a really good relationship with Piotr. He’s a top guy, I like him a lot. He is one of the people I met in Italy with whom I am in touch all the time.“I spoke to him a few months ago and told him that I would like to play with him again. So, who knows what the future has waiting for us. For me, he is a really, really top player.”"

Should Manchester United make a move for Zielinski?

Zielinski has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A over the past several years. And he has appeared to take his game to the next level this time around.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions this season. And he is one of the biggest reasons why Napoli are on the verge of securing Champions League qualification going into the final day of the Serie A season.

Manchester United might need some reinforcements in central midfield in the near future. Thus, could Zielinski be the answer to their problems in the middle of the park?

That is certainly an interesting scenario but at this point of time, there do not appear to be any rumours linking the Poland international with a switch to Old Trafford. His current contract with Napoli runs till the summer of 2024.
