Crowds were back at Old Trafford after a long time and Edinson Cavani welcomed them back to the Theatre of Dreams with an incredible goal. Ultimately though, Manchester United could only manage a 1-1 draw in the game against Fulham.

The Red Devils have enjoyed a great Premier League campaign and will finish in the second spot. They also have the chance to lift their first piece of silverware under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when they face Villarreal in the Europa League final.

But the ultimate aim of the club would be to return to the top of English football and challenge in the Champions League on a consistent basis. In that regard, they are still a few steps away. Thus, the focus would be on improving even further over time.

The club were handed a massive boost when Cavani agreed to extend his contract. The Uruguayan has been absolutely brilliant recently and is undoubtedly the best striker at Old Trafford at this point of time. Solskjaer has left the door open to bringing in another striker though. As reported by Sky Sports, he said:

"“There are many, many, many things you have to consider when you put a squad together.“I’m not saying that if Eddie [Cavani] stays that means someone else in a forward position won’t come in.”"

Manchester United could bring in another striker in the near future

The Red Devils have been linked with a number of strikers in recent times. Of course, names of players like Erling Haaland and Harry Kane stand out. But it goes without saying that it would be very difficult to sign either of them.

Both of them are expected to be available for transfer fees well above £100 million this summer. And shelling out a figure around that would be very difficult, especially in the current financial climate.

But that does not mean that the Red Devils won’t sign another striker though. They have been linked with many other interesting players as well, including the likes of Dusan Vlahovic, Andre Silva and many others.

Thus, it promises to be an exciting transfer window for Manchester United fans as the club look to take another step in the right direction.
