Manchester United make contact for £52 million wonderkid
Manchester United have enjoyed quite the relationship with Sporting Lisbon over the years. A number of players have made the switch from Estadio Jose Alvalade to Old Trafford and some of them have enjoyed incredible success at the Theatre of Dreams, going on to become legends for the club.
Of course, the most notable is Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese superstar is one of the best players to ever represent the Red Devils. He arrived at Old Trafford as a teenager and by the time he left, he was a Ballon d’Or winner. That was just the beginning for him though as he would ultimately go on to establish himself as one of the greatest in the history of football.
Nani was another player who enjoyed a great time with Manchester United, while Bruno Fernandes has made his mark since arriving as well. Marcos Rojo was one more player who made the Old Trafford switch from Sporting Lisbon.
And now, it looks like the Red Devils could be eyeing another rising Sporting Lisbon star in the form of Nuno Mendes.

Manchester United have been linked with Mendes in recent months
Mendes has emerged as one of the most promising young talents in world football in recent times and as a result, some of the biggest clubs in Europe have been linked with him over the past several months, including the Red Devils.
And it looks like Manchester United might have taken a step further. As reported by The Sun, the club have sounded out his agent Miguel Pinho regarding if a deal might be possible.
There is no doubting the potential of Mendes. The 18-year-old left-back has already established himself as a first-team regular for Sporting Lisbon and has made 35 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring once and assisting twice, according to stats from Transfermarkt.
Now, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils can pull off a move for the Sporting Lisbon teenager, who is believed to be rated at around £52 million at this point of time.
